# Install the CLI

> Install the notholy command on Linux, macOS or Windows, check that it runs and sign in.

The CLI is one binary for Linux, macOS and Windows, on amd64 and arm64. The install script picks the build for your system and checks its SHA-256 checksum. If the checksum does not match, it installs nothing.

## 1. Install

macOS and Linux, in a terminal:

```bash
curl -fsSL https://notholy.com/install.sh | sh
```

It installs to `~/.local/bin`. If that folder is not on your `PATH`, the script prints the line to add to your shell profile. Set `NOTHOLY_INSTALL_DIR` to use another folder.

Windows, in PowerShell:

```powershell
irm https://notholy.com/install.ps1 | iex
```

It installs to `%LOCALAPPDATA%\notholy\bin` and adds that folder to your user `PATH`.

## 2. Check the install

```bash
notholy --version
```

It prints `notholy` and the version number. If the shell says the command is not found, open a new terminal so it reads the new `PATH`.

## 3. Sign in

```bash
notholy login
```

The CLI shows a code and opens `notholy.com/activate` in your browser. Confirm the code there and the CLI stores its own key in your system keychain. CI setup is in [Log in](/en/cli/login).

## 4. Ask something

```bash
notholy "explain CVE-2024-3094 in two sentences"
```

That prints one answer. Run `notholy` with no arguments inside a project to open the [terminal agent](/en/cli/agent).
